Sicus is a small project started in 2009 by Eduard Pie, a young winemaker living in Bonastre, a small town south of Barcelona in Catalunya. Eduard is passionate and thoughtful when it comes to his work. His vines are certified organic, and he incorporates biodynamic practices, as well. He is an advocate for single varietal and parcel wines, he only ever bottles a specific grape from a specific parcel, wanting to showcase the unique differences in terroir of Bonastre and the distinctiveness of each grape he works with.
Through Sicus, Eduard Pie shares his way of understanding viticulture and the wines it produces. It is a philosophy based on the importance of expressing the terroir in wine, a product so deeply dependent on and connected to the land. It also reflects an obsession with bottling taut, fresh wines with low alcohol content and lovely lively acidity. They bottle the landscape: Their hallmark is to craft wines that are true to their origin, which is why they guarantee, manage, and preserve each of the factors that make up the terroir. Their obsession with honest winemaking techniques results in fresh, taut wines with a low alcohol content.
